The Power of Project Management

Meet today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities with a Marlboro College Graduate School Certificate in Project Management.

What is Project Management?

Project Management helps you answer the challenge of deadlines and budgets with a proactive project plan that leads to maximum success with minimum resources.

Course Overview

Marlboro College Graduate School courses emphasize both critical thinking and the practical application of tools and techniques. In each of the Project Management Certificate courses, participants are required to select a "live" project. Thus, students apply their coursework directly to the business challenges that they face in their work.

Project Management 1*

This course guides leaders through the application of the project management Initiating and Planning processes. Key topics include project selection, scoping, schedule development, risk management, quality assurance, team building and project communication. Students create a comprehensive plan using a project of their choice.

Project Management 2*

Students in this course manage an actual project as a case study in best practices focused on the Execution, Monitoring & Controlling, and Close-out processes. Key topics include budgeting, procurement, schedule tracking, earned value, project recovery, status reporting and issue management.

Change Management

Intelligent "change management" is required to successfully implement projects in organizations. This course prepares participants to lead that change, beginning with a systematic approach to enterprise-wide change initiatives. In addition to learning Organizational Change Management best practices, the course encourages students to apply specific tools and strategies to their own project work.

Leadership

Project Managers have a unique leadership challenge because they often have responsibility without authority. This year-long course explores the dimensions of leadership, including self-awareness and personal mastery, team development, and organizational strategy.

* Project Management course instructors are certified as Project Management Professionals by the Project Management Institute

This Certificate is based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) and meets the formal education requirements needed to apply for the Project Management Institute's PMP® exam. PMP Prep Study Groups are offered by local PMI Chapters, such as PMI Keene and PMI Champlain Valley in Burlington.
