Alumni Work

Here’s what some of our alumni are up to:

Drew Blanchard MAT ’10

“Though I am still completing my degree, the MAT program at Marlboro has already helped me move on to the next phase of my professional career as the new technology teacher for the Winooski, VT, City School District. For several years I’d been looking for a program which would allow me to combine my love of teaching with my passion for technology. I’ve found the courses and content of the MAT program to be directly applicable to my own goals, and the learning network that has been created here helps me personally and professionally. My work in the MAT program allowed me to fill a need in my own school district where I’m slowly transforming my position to become a resource for our faculty and staff while still working directly with students. I’ve rediscovered my own love of learning and feel rejuvenated in many ways.”

Annesa Hartman MAT ’02

While completing her degree, Annesa focused on instructional design for online technologies, and web and graphic design concepts and programs. Thinking of her time at MCGS, Annesa says: “It was an opportunity to effectively combine two areas that I enjoy—teaching and technology—in an environment of close-knit cohorts and plenty of resources.”

Kevin Bell MAT ’00

“Marlboro is a wonderful place. The blend of academic challenge, community support and a spectacular pool of real-world faculty helped me meld my vision of online instruction and administration. I was offered my first post-grad job in the corporate world two weeks prior to graduation, and have since held positions in growing degrees of seniority at a number of colleges, ending with my current role at SNHU where I still apply my Grad School learning on a daily basis. Where MCGS stands out is the focus on the analysis and review of emerging technologies, principles and pedagogies providing the lasting skill to assess and recommend strategies for the ongoing success of the institutions that will hire you based on these skills.”

Meaghan Meachem MAT ’07

“What I loved the most about MCGS was that it allowed me to take the MAT program and focus it on the skills I needed to get to where I wanted to go—which ultimately was to be in a college setting. I loved how open-minded everyone was to what I was trying to accomplish for myself.  I never once heard a ‘no you can’t do that here.’ MCGS has given me so much to bring to my job today—without it, I really don’t think I would be nearly prepared enough to teach in a college setting.”

Michele HamerMichele Hamer MAT ’05

“I realized immediately that the Master of Arts in Teaching with Technology was exactly what I was looking for. My experience at the Grad School not only gave me the tools I’d hoped to acquire to create a professional development program for teachers, it reinforced my enthusiasm for learning.”

Elizabeth McCarthy MAT ’08

“I had been on the fence about whether to pursue a degree in creative writing or technology. As it turns out, the teaching with technology program at MCGS did engage my creative side in a way I had not expected. Another reason I chose the Graduate School was its reputation within the educational community. I had looked at other programs but none of them focused on teaching with technology like MCGS.”
